Mars rover 'Opportunity' panorama

A 360 degree panorama of the eerie false-colour landscape assembled from 817 images taken by the Mars rover 'Opportunity' between Dec. 21, 2011, and May 8, 2012. According to the NASA website: the photo shows the terrain that surrounded the rover while it was stationary for four months of work during its most recent Martian winter. Image Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Cornell/Arizona State Univ. The release of this image (July 2012) coincides with Opportunity completing its 3,000th Martian day on July 2, and NASA continuing past 15 years of robotic presence at Mars.

Directed by Baillie Walsh in 2003 this music video was shot over a three-day period in Barcelona, at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc the beautiful pools which hosted the diving events at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. One of my many all-time favourite music videos. (Apologies for lackluster stills)

Kaleidoscopic, Vertiginous Dubai

A selection of dizzying stills from Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol (2011) shot in Dubai at Burj Khalifa, the tallest man made structure in the world. These scenes literally took my breath my away. The silvery, reflective palettes are beautiful and slick, altogether crystal clear and hazily atmospheric. Dubai a concrete playground below; the maze-like carpets of garden and spaghetti junctions laid out as crazy crop circles in the desert.

Worth watching this enjoyable popcorn action flick if only for this particular scene, and the one that follows, when Cruise's character pursues the baddie through the eerily deserted, sand-storm blanketed streets of Dubai. Amazing.
