Textures and Fabrics from F/W 2013 RTD: a brief survey of detail shots

A very brief and by no means in-depth, cursory selection of interesting details from the 2013 winter collections from New York and London Fashion Weeks*. Proenza Schouler piqued my interest first and foremost, other notable mentions below. Note three front-row guests' reflections centered and framed in the metal embellishments on that curious Burberry Prorsum silver-leopard-print / mercury-splatter-print coat.

Valentino Haute Couture Spring 2013 Details

My love for the Valentino Haute Couture Collection knows no bounds. I was so happy to have stumbled upon the live stream by complete chance and will confess to having watched it twice. Interesting to note: according to Tim Blanks review '...the duo [Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli] enumerated the human cost in the show notes that sat on everyone's seats' One such labour-intensive 'artisanal effort' was a tulle and gauze dress, scrolled and enveloped with a lattice cage of rolled piping, which -as noted by Blanks- 'According to the notes, it took 500 hours of hand-rolling to produce the piping.'

We're particularly captivated by this lookbook for Pre Spring 2013, from the forced perspective in the foliage-rich backdrop, to the brilliantly florid and over-the-top baroque prints. I'm so glad Neeve alerted me to it, or I may have missed it altogether!
