Ball Pythons

Recent found image / google image search obsession: Ball pythons.

According to wikipedia: 'Python regius is a nonvenomous python species found in Africa. This is the smallest of the African pythons and is popular in the pet trade, largely due to its typically docile temperament. It is also known as royal python or ball python.[3] The name "ball python" refers to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened.[4] The name "royal python" (from the Latin regius) is based in part on the story that Cleopatra supposedly wore the snake around her wrist.'

The following series of images have been extracted from this Ball Python breeder's website.

A variety of curiously fluid, squirming, dappled, repeated, dotted, geometric, flecked, mosaics / patterns of motley, patchy, pied, spotty, striped, amazing snake skins.

'Sheep View'

'Sheep View' is a blog which consists of rather interesting screenshots of flocks of sheep spotted on Google Street View. Captioned 'JOURNEYS THROUGH AN OVINE WASTELAND' the last post appears to have been from 2010. Perhaps most curious are the captions the screenshot collecter (whose pen-name is Birches) has given the images. Below is a selection of these screenshots and the author's own captions:

4: 50 pm: A standoff. Momentary tension as hooves steady to position in the bony soil. The flock disperses. Silent knowledge held only between brothers. 5:40 pm: The party has retreated to evening pastures, leaving me alone in threadbare clothes and skin flushed red from exposure. Good Lord, but I am thankful for Spring's final arrival in Estérençuby.

Neutrino Detectors: Part I

'The Sudbury Neutrino Observatory [or 'SNO LAB'] a 12-meter [acrylic] sphere filled with heavy water surrounded by light detectors located 2000 meters below the ground in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.' (Wikipedia Article on Neutrino Detectors)
